Nottingham Forest vs Burnley: Head-to-head record, key stats & more

Having beaten Chelsea in their last outing, Nottingham Forest will be desperate to get back amongst it in the Premier League following an international break.

Anthony Elanga, who joined Forest from Manchester United in the summer, scored the only goal of the game at Stamford Bridge.

Burnley meanwhile fell at home to Tottenham Hotspur despite taking an early lead. The Clarets were ahead thanks to South African international Lyle Foster after just 4 minutes but a Heung-min Son hat-trick made all the difference in a 5-2 win for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

That win for Nottingham Forest takes them into the top half whilst Burnley remain at the foot of the table as one of only two teams, along with Luton Town, yet to pick up a point this term.

Next time out, the pair will face off at the City Ground and we at Football FanCast have peeled the curtain back on the history of this fixture, so you don’t have to.

Nottingham Forest vs Burnley: Who has the better head-to-head record (competitive games only)?

This year’s form doesn’t in any way reflect how these two teams have fared against each other in the past with Burnley having the slight edge. These games have been fairly well spread out between top-tier football and life in the second division too.

Home form prevails for Nottingham Forest with their 55% win rate in this fixture at the City Ground being very respectable indeed.

Forest bounced around a few different stadiums in the area before arriving at The City Ground in 1898, where they’ve been ever since.

Nottingham Forest wins 29 Draws 13 Burnley wins 11 Nottingham Forest vs Burnley: Who has more wins at Turf Moor?

Unlike Nottingham Forest, Burnley have never known anything different than Turf Moor. Similarly though, they have won more often than not on their own patch, at a rate of 58%, slightly higher than that of their upcoming opponents.

The club became one of the first professional teams in all the land in 1883 and they have that one ground since then.

Cup meetings between Nottingham Forest and Burnley have been few and far between with the two crossing paths just eight times since their first ever meeting in 1906.

Twice in the FA Cup these two teams have played but both of these outings came in the 1934/1935 season with the first attempt being drawn 0-0, before Burnley won the replayed game 3-0.

steve-cooper-nottingham-forest-premier-league-transfers

Burnley’s recent stints in the Premier League have not coincided with that of Nottingham Forest until now, meaning that this will be the first meeting of the pair since the competition was created three decades ago.

30th August 2023- Nottingham Forest 0-1 Burnley:

Whilst it isn't a league meeting, these two teams will be familiar with each other after they were drawn together in the second round of the League Cup, which was played just a couple of weeks ago.

Some key players were rested but others remained in the XIs for the respective managers and so Steve Cooper wouldn’t have been particularly impressed to be eliminated so early. It was a stalemate for the majority of the game until Swiss substitute Zeki Amdouni sent the away fans into raptures at the City Ground in the 90th minute.

23rd February 2016- Burnley 1-0 Nottingham Forest:

We now travel back several years to the last league matchup between Nottingham Forest and Burnley.

The latter won the title that year in emphatic fashion but this dominance wasn’t necessarily reflected when crossing paths with Forest. Once again, it was decided by a single goal and the scorer this time was Sam Vokes.

20th October 2015- Nottingham Forest 1-1 Burnley:

In the reverse fixture, with Nottingham Forest’s season not yet having been derailed, they were able to hold Sean Dyche’s side to draw in a dreaded EFL midweek game.

The drama came in the last fifteen minutes with Forest shooting themselves in the foot just moments after taking the lead. Eric Lichaj found the back of the net only for Henri Lansbury to be sent off a couple of minutes later. An experienced and versatile Matthew Taylor was on hand to equalize in the dying embers.

22nd February 2014- Burnley 3-1 Nottingham Forest:

We’re again talking about a season that saw Burnley promoted to the Premier League and again, they came out on top against Nottingham Forest at Turf Moor.

Burnley stormed into a 3-0 lead before half-time thanks to a Scott Arfield strike and a Vokes brace. Djamel Abdoun missed from the penalty spot and then proceeded to convert the rebound but it was nothing more than a consolation.

23rd November 2013- Nottingham Forest 1-1 Burnley:

Sam Vokes continued his streak of bothering the Forest backline with his goal in their 1-1 draw in Nottingham coming from twelve yards out.

Who has played for both Nottingham Forest and Burnley?

Chris Wood (Burnley 2017-2022; Nottingham Forest 2023-current)

The first of three players to have played for both Nottingham Forest and Burnley is still currently active for the former.

Chris Wood performed well for Leicester City and Leeds United but he truly made his name as a Burnley player. He enjoyed both Premier League and Championship football with the Clarets before moving on to Newcastle United last summer. That transfer didn’t really work and after being loaned to Forest for the second-half of last season, he has now joined Cooper’s ranks on a permanent basis.

George Boyd (Nottingham Forest 2010; Burnley 2014-2017)

George Boyd is another player who enjoyed the highs of promotion and lows of relegation with Burnley and played some of his best football for them.

His spell with Nottingham Forest was a brief one, joining on loan from Peterborough United before he eventually established himself as a key player with the Posh. The Scottish international most recently played for Salford City before announcing his retirement in late 2021.

Tendayi Darikwa (Burnley 2015-2017; Nottingham Forest 2017-2021)

All three of these players incidentally played for Burnley in 2017 but Tendayi Darikwa is more closely associated with Nottingham Forest and may even be a sort of cult hero in and around the Trent.

The Zimbabwe international was actually born in Nottingham and yet it was Chesterfield where he played as a youngster. He eventually gravitated towards the City Ground where he played under the likes of Aitor Karanka and Sabri Lamouchi. Darikwa is currently plying his trade in Cyprus having left Wigan Athletic earlier this year.

What is Nottingham Forest’s biggest victory over Burnley?

18th September 1957: Nottingham Forest 7-0 Burnley

Nottingham Forest’s biggest win over Burnley saw them score seven unanswered goals nearly 70 years ago. Stewart Imlach and Tommy Wilson were amongst the scorers as they got two-a-piece.

They finished second in the second division the year prior and so were promoted to the top flight where this 7-0 pasting took place. At the end of the 1957/58 season, Forest ended up, very respectably, in tenth.

21st November 1959: Burnley 8-0 Nottingham Forest

It didn’t take long for Burnley to get their own back and they went one step further in fact.

Their 8-0 drubbing of Forest took place in the 1959/60 season and saw Jimmy Robson notch five goals. Also on the score sheet were Brian Pilkington and Ray Pointer (2).

Nottingham Forest vs Burnley: Key stats This will be the 1st ever league meeting between the two clubs in the Premier League era Burnley haven’t lost to Nottingham Forest in their last 8 meetings Neither team have drawn a single game so far this season Nottingham Forest vs Burnley: Famous fixtures

22nd February 2014- Burnley 3-1 Nottingham Forest:

The first of two famous meetings between these clubs has already been talked about with Burnley’s eventual promotion being the headline.

Sean Dyche’s side enjoyed automatic promotion alongside champions Leicester City whilst Nottingham Forest only ended up six points away from the playoff spots. Had this game gone differently then maybe we would be discussing a very different story.

23rd October 1976- Nottingham Forest 5-2 Burnley:

Our other famous fixture instead favours Nottingham Forest and it took place nearly 50 years ago. They beat Burnley 5-2 at the City Ground on their way to a promotion of their own. It was just the third game of the season and so this victory propelled Brian Clough’s team onto greatness.

The game becomes all the more significant when you consider that after this season, the pair wouldn’t cross paths in a league fixture for another 23 years or so as promotions and relegations continued to keep them apart. All the leagues game that followed were in the Championship because, as previously mentioned, these two teams haven’t clashed in the Premier League (until this weekend).

Wood seeks Lions Ashes lift-off as Johnson highlights need for speed

Mark Wood is preparing to press his claim for a late call-up to England’s Ashes squad as Mitchell Johnson, the Australian quick who terrorised England four years ago, ridiculed their attack as a bunch of “sweatband swingers”.Wood’s opportunity comes in a three-day match for England Lions against Queensland in Brisbane before what is essentially an Ashes shadow squad moves on to Perth.Wood, who was England’s fastest bowler until he was stricken by ankle trouble, hopes to emerge from three operations to rebuild his Test career. If you believe Johnson, it can’t come fast enough.Johnson collected 37 wickets and three Man-of-the-Match awards on England’s last Ashes tour and is clearly missing all the attention. He took to Twitter to goad two former England batsmen, Michael Vaughan and Kevin Pietersen, who are in Australia on media duties: “Hey @KP24 @MichaelVaughan yesterday [you] were carrying on about the pommy fast bowlers being able to bowl in the 140s. Ever since they’ve taken the second new ball they’ve been bowling medium pace. They are allowed to bend their backs, and there’s 4 of them #ashes #sweatbandswinger” Even on a surprisingly sluggish Brisbane surface, the advantage of speed on Australian pitches has been hard to ignore. Joe Root was struck on the helmet by Mitchell Starc, Alastair Cook was beaten on the hook by Josh Hazelwood and England’s tail looked unlikely to detain Australia for very long.Wood, 27, claimed the wicket which saw England regain the Ashes at Trent Bridge in 2015, but lost his England central contract and a tour place for Australia last month after an injury-hit season in which he managed only 14 wickets in seven first-class appearances and his ankle issues were compounded by persistent heel problems. He did take four wickets against Australia in an impressive Champions Trophy campaign, but by the time he featured in two Tests against South Africa, he was well down on pace. That did not dissuade Ottis Gibson from billing him as England’s most hostile fast bowler as Gibson relinquished England’s bowling coach role to take charge of of South Africa.Andy Flower, the Lions head coach, said: “Woody will definitely play in our match against Queensland. He’s looking fit and strong and full of energy. He had two good days bowling at the England players which he came through well, so this is the perfect game for him.”Wood met up with the England squad at net sessions in Brisbane before the first Test and was told in a meeting with the MD of England cricket Andrew Strauss, national selector James Whitaker and coach Trevor Bayliss that an appearance in the Ashes series was not being ruled out. That door might be slightly more ajar after a Test in which Jake Ball made little impression and fitness concerns have swirled around the leader of England’s attack, James Anderson.”They said that if I got my body right I’d still be in a position to have an impact in the series,” Wood said recently. “So in the back of my mind I’ve always thought I’ve got a chance.”But I’m not here to put any of the lads under pressure. You don’t want anyone to get injured – I’ve had enough myself to know you don’t want people to go through that. We’ll just have to wait and see.”I might be just in the background underneath the radar with the Lions hopefully doing well and I can just slot in. It’s a long series, so I’m still hoping at some stage I might be a part of it.”I’ve been building it up out here and my action feels good. It’s just I’ve got no overs under my belt. So the more bowling training I can do in games the better.”As newspaper headlines blared about an incident involving England’s wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow, alleging that he had “headbutted” the Australia batsman Cameron Bancroft in a bar in Perth in the early days of the tour, attention will also be focused upon the deputy wicketkeeper Ben Foakes. It was not entirely clear, though, on the eve of the game, whether Foakes, who was originally carded at No. 4 as a specialist batsman, would take the gloves or whether Alex Davies would be retained as wicketkeeper.England are suggesting privately that the Bairstow story has been ramped up with the deliberate intention of destabilising the squad, but Strauss will continue discussions with Bairstow after the completion of the Brisbane Test in full knowledge that there have been calls for him to be suspended.Tom Curran, who has yet to play since he replaced Steven Finn in the Ashes party, also has his first run out of the trip.England Lions (12-a-side game): Keaton Jennings (capt), Nick Gubbins, Tom Westley, Ben Foakes, Dan Lawrence, Liam Livingstone, Alex Davies, Paul Coughlin, Tom Curran, Mark Wood, Jack Leach, George Garton

Fabrizio Romano drops "crucial" Maguire to West Ham transfer update

Harry Maguire remains in negotiations with West Ham United over one crucial point, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The England international has been a key target of Hammers boss David Moyes this summer.

What is the latest news on Harry Maguire?

Maguire is as close as ever to leaving Manchester United this summer.

That is according to Romano, who stated that the two sides have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer with the fee being £30m. The verbal agreement has been reached, however discussions remain ongoing regarding the structure of the deal, and personal terms are still yet to be discussed.

This verbal agreement is a massive boost to West Ham, who had the England international as their top priority defensive addition this summer, and had seen a £20m offer rejected for the defender earlier in the window.

Sky Sports reports that personal terms are not expected to be a problem, however other reports are stating that due to the defenders current £190k per week wages at Old Trafford, the Red Devils have made a severance payment to their former captain in order to offset some of the wages that will be lost as he takes a wage cut down to £120k per week at the London Stadium.

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire.

It was previously reported that the defender wanted to stay at Old Trafford this season and fight for his place in Erik ten Hag's squad, however it appears the England international is resigned to the fact that a move away is the best thing for his career, especially with the upcoming Euros, playing regular first team football may be the thing that keeps him in Gareth Southgate's starting lineup for the tournament.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano revealed that whilst the verbal agreement has been reached, the crucial part is making Maguire happy with the financial aspect of the deal. Should that happen, the deal should get the green light.

He said: "Harry Maguire is still in negotiations with West Ham, so there is a crucial point: the salary of Maguire. At Manchester United it’s completely to the salary of Maguire at West Ham, so it is crucial that the sides find a way to make Harry Maguire happy with the financial point of view. The fee is agreed, £30m between Man United and West Ham, but they have to get the green light on player side. So while I’m speaking we are still waiting to get the final green light from Maguire and then Man United will go on a new centre back."

Who will Man United replace Maguire with?

There are a couple of names reported as potential Maguire replacements.

Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite is a reported target for the Red Devils. The Englishman impressed many last campaign during his loan at PSV Eindhoven where he made 37 appearances in all competitions, scoring four and assisting two en route to lifting the Dutch cup with the club, whilst the Englishman ended the season with a 6.80 WhoScored rating. According to Football Insider, the Red Devils would have to part ways with £25m to bring the player to Old Trafford.

jean-clair-todibo-premier-league-transfers-man-united

Another name that is reported as a target is Jean-Clair Todibo. The Frenchman has shone at OGC Nice following his move from Barcelona in 2020, recording average ratings of 6.82, 6.87 and 6.79 across each of the last three campaigns according to WhoScored. According to Romano, The Manchester side have asked to be informed on the conditions of a Todibo deal, with the defender one of the names being considered should Maguire depart.

Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard is another name being considered alongside Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba.

International Striker To "Keep Pushing" For West Ham Exit

West Ham United's Italian striker Gianluca Scamacca could leave the club this summer as, according to journalist Alex Crook, he will "keep pushing" for an exit after an offer from Inter Milan was rejected.

Is Gianluca Scamacca leaving West Ham United this summer?

It hasn't been the transfer window West Ham fans would've been dreaming of so far this summer.

Whilst the loss of club captain Declan Rice was something most people expected to happen, the apparent reluctance to spend any of the £105m they received for their star is more surprising.

It now looks like another big-name player will be following the England international out the door before anyone comes the other way, with Italy international Scamacca looking increasingly likely to return to Serie A, with Inter Milan seemingly intent on signing him.

Read the latest West Ham United transfer news HERE…

According to the Daily Mail, the Italian giants have made an offer worth £25m to the Conference League holders, which was turned down as they hold out for at least £30m.

The Hammers only signed the striker last summer in a deal worth £35m, so, understandably, they would want to recuperate as much of that initial outlay as they can, but with last year panning out so poorly for the player, he will continue to agitate for an exit, per journalist Alex Crook.

West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca.

He explained the situation live on TalkSport, which was posted to their YouTube channel:

"It's a good few weeks since Declan Rice completed his British record £105m move to Arsenal, but still not a single player signed and actually more players looking to follow Declan Rice out the exit.

"Gianluca Scamacca – hasn't worked out for him at all – certainly is one of those. We know there was a bid of around about £17m from Inter Milan that was rejected instantly but he will keep pushing."

How good was Gianluca Scamacca last season?

It wasn't a great debut season for the former Sassuolo man last year, but a lot of that is down to terrible luck with injuries, as he missed a total of 23 games for the Hammers last year and spent 172 days on the sidelines since suffering an initial injury in mid-November.

That said, when he has donned the Claret and Blue, he has often flattered to deceive.

In the 16 Premier League games he has played for the east Londoners, he has scored only three times, provided no assists, maintained a poor passing accuracy of 66.9% and averaged a fairly mediocre match rating of 6.50, per WhoScored.

His underlying numbers are nothing to shout about and suggest that his poor return at the London Stadium can't just be chalked up to bad luck.

Gianluca-Scamacca-in-action-West-Ham-against-Brentford

According to FBref, which compares players in a similar position across Europe's top five leagues, the 6 foot 5 titan's best statistics are that he sits in the top 13% for interceptions, the top 10% for tackles and the top 30% for total shots, all per 90.

None of those numbers paints the picture of a great striker and, worse still, he sits in the bottom 17% for non-penalty expected goals and expected assists, the bottom 11% for touches in the opposition's penalty area, and the bottom 6% for assists, also all per 90.

At the end of the day, his performances have certainly been limited by injury, but when he has had the opportunity to show what he can do, he has totally underperformed.

He also failed to produce for Italy last season, with former striker Christian Vieri telling Il Corriere della Sera (via West Ham Zone):

"He (Scamacca) is far behind, I thought he'd get regular playing time at West Ham.

"He must show something more and score more goals."

Ultimately, if the Irons can get the £30m they want and lose just £5m to get him off their books, it might be best for all parties involved and give Scamacca a chance to rebuild his career.

Players unhappy despite hike in pay

ESPNcricinfo has learnt that some of the India players are unhappy with the revised pay structure, despite their annual retainer having been doubled

Arun Venugopal30-Mar-2017A week after the BCCI announced new annual contracts, it has emerged that some players are unhappy with the revised pay structure. Despite the annual retainer having been doubled, it is understood that the players’ response has stemmed from the revised contracts not meeting their demands. ESPNcricinfo has learnt that the issue had been a concern for a while and that the players have made a concerted effort to address it in the last few months.”Things have gathered momentum over the last three months or so, through the New Zealand and England series,” an insider aware of the developments said. “Almost every player has been involved in the discussions.” The coach, Anil Kumble, who was one of the driving forces behind the creation of the central contracts system in 2003, is learnt to have pushed for a complete overhaul of the existing structure to ensure contracted players get a bigger slice of the whole revenue pie, and not just a percentage of a whittled-down portion.Earlier this month, Kumble had made a presentation on a revamped compensation structure on behalf of the players and support staff to the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) in Bengaluru. Although one source said the players are likely to meet the CoA in the forthcoming days to revisit the new contracts, a CoA official said no such meeting was on the cards. The CoA, though, believes Kumble’s proposals require an entirely new framework, which will require time to formulate. “Kumble is also aware that it cannot happen overnight,” the CoA official said. “That will be thought through and we will see what we can do on that. That is not something that can be done in 24 hours or 48 hours. It will take a lot of deliberation because it is a complete re-think of how the compensation model is thought through.”Last week, a few days after Kumble’s presentation, 32 players were handed new retainers, in which seven Grade A-contract holders – including Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Ajinkya Rahane and R Ashwin – will be paid INR 2 crore (USD 300,000 approx) each per year. According to the new arrangement, those in Grade B and C will now earn INR 1 crore (USD 150,000 approx) and INR 50 lakh (USD 75,000) respectively. The match fees were also increased from INR 7 lakh to 15 lakh in Tests, 4 lakh to 6 lakh in ODIs and 2 lakh to 3 lakh in T20Is. This revision in the pay structure was the first since 2010.The assistant coaches – Sanjay Bangar (batting) and R Sridhar (fielding) – were also given a 50% hike in retainership fees; they will now earn 15 lakh each per month, barring the two-month IPL window, for which they are not paid. There were other financial rewards, too, with the BCCI announcing payments – INR 50 lakh per player, 25 lakh for Kumble and 15 lakh for each member of the support staff – for India becoming the No. 1-ranked Test side. The ICC also awarded the team USD 1 million for finishing the year as the top-ranked Test nation.Despite the windfall, some players believe the pay rise isn’t commensurate with the growth in BCCI profits. The BCCI’s total income in 2015-16 stood at INR 1365.35 crore. Out of this, the board paid a total of 56.35 crore to players. An amount of 46.31 crore was paid as “additional payment to players”, as per the board’s annual statement last year. The sticking point, though, is the income from the television rights, which is the board’s biggest revenue stream. The norm has been distribution of about 70% of the income – generated from rights – to the state associations. For perspective, when the contracts were introduced in 2003 by the BCCI, the board paid players – both international and domestic, including the junior categories – 26% of the overall revenues. Of this, half (13%) was assigned to the men’s international players, while 10.3% was distributed among the domestic players. The remaining 2.7% was allotted to a bracket featuring the junior players, although women were added to this category subsequently. What has further irked the players is that their annual retainer is comparatively lower than that of their English and Australian counterparts. Different sources have estimated Joe Root and Steven Smith’s annual retainers at between INR 8 crore and 12 crore. “When the ECB and CA compensate their players handsomely, why does the BCCI, the world’s richest board, not do enough?” the source asked. “In addition, the BCCI’s coffers have seen a huge increase since the introduction of the IPL, but the players don’t get a fair share of such revenues. It is ultimately the state associations that walk away with the lion’s share of the money.”Another source said the BCCI could not use the players’ IPL earnings as a pretext for not substantially increasing the annual retainers. “One player might get a contract worth 12 crore, another may be bought for 30 lakh, and there are players who don’t get any IPL contracts,” the source said. “Why should the board be concerned with the amount of money players make from the IPL? The values of both these properties are different, so why do they connect the two? The BCCI is the richest board and the money is meant to be spent on cricket and cricketers, not stadia.”The other cause of consternation has been the gulf in the pay structures between domestic and international cricketers. A veteran domestic player said there was very little financial incentive for someone to play only first-class cricket. “A player in the Test squad makes 7.5 lakh per game, even if he is not included in the playing XI,” he said. “If I play a whole season of first-class cricket – I get paid 40,000 per four-day game, along with a percentage of the board’s gross revenue – I will probably make a little more in a season than what a player on the bench makes per Test match.”He said that a contract system had to be put in place for domestic cricketers as well. “The absence of any concrete financial benefit is why people in first-class cricket are constantly looking to play only the IPL,” he said. “After all, not everyone can play for India. But, with a system like this, you are not producing people who would want to play Test cricket. The disparity is huge.”

Chelsea Close To Sealing £29.8m Summer Transfer

Chelsea are now ready to secure the services of the Villarreal striker Nicolas Jackson this summer with personal terms already agreed.

How much is Nicolas Jackson worth?

It was a season to forget for the Blues as they were forced to settle for a 12th placed finish in the Premier League as they saw two managers come and go.

Indeed, Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter saw the wrath of the Chelsea owner Todd Boehly who sacked both managers over the course of the 2022/23 campaign.

Looking ahead to the new campaign, former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has been handed the reins in west London to try and turn around their fortunes.

One of their biggest issues in the 2022/23 season was their ability to find the back of the net with only five other clubs scoring fewer than their return of 38 goals.

But it seems as if Boehly is looking to provide Pochettino with a player to solve those issues in Jackson.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has claimed the Blues are now ready to pay the 21-year-old's £29.8m release clause:

"And now what's going on guys, we can say that Chelsea have, of course, full agreement with the player. He wants impsed to join Chelsea, this something guaranteed and from what I'm told it's going to be a very long contract. So not a regular five-year deal. But more than this, so long, very long term contract is ready.

"But also important to say that, from what I understand, Chelsea are prepared to trigger and activate the release clause of Nicolas Jackson."

How many goals has Nicolas Jackson scored?

The Senegalese striker enjoyed a profitable campaign in La Liga over the course of the 2022/23 term which saw him return 12 goals and four assists in his 26 appearances (via Transfermarkt).

Jackson endured a hip issue during the middle of the campaign which saw the 21-year-old miss a number of games in La Liga.

However, upon his return, the striker showed some stunning form which has earned him the attention of the likes of Chelsea.

victor-osimhen-napoli-chelsea-transfer-gossip-pochettino-haaland-guardiola

Over his final eight games in the Spanish top flight, Jackson provided a stunning return of nine goals and two assists including a goal on the final day against Atletico Madrid.

However, whether he will be able to convert that form into the Premier League is another matter.

Chelsea have been linked with a sensational summer swoop for the mightily impressive Victor Osimhen who has proven himself in Serie A by netting 26 league goals alone (via Transfermarkt).

Considering Chelsea have also allowed Joao Felix to return to Aleti following the conclusion of his loan deal, it will be intriguing to see whether Boehly looks to provide Pochettino with more firepower throughout the summer.

Leeds Eyeing Summer Move For £28k-A-Week Youngster

Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo on loan this summer, according to a fresh update.

How good is Man United youngster Diallo?

The £28,000-a-week attacker is an exciting prospect at Old Trafford, with a potentially strong career ahead of him, wherever he eventually ends up.

Diallo spent last season on loan at Sunderland and his performances caught the eye, with 14 goals and three assists coming his way in the Championship, and it could be that another temporary move comes his way in 2023/24, in order for him to continue his development.

The 20-year-old could be a future regular at Old Trafford, depending on how much he kicks on in the coming years, and any Championship club would surely be happy to have him.

With Leeds preparing for life back in the second tier, following their relegation from the Premier League last month, it looks as though Diallo has emerged as a summer target for new owners the 49ers Enterprises.

Are Leeds keen on signing Diallo this summer?

According to The Mirror, the Whites are "on the trail" of Diallo ahead of a potential loan move this summer, seeing him as an ideal replacement for the likes of Jack Harrison and Wilfried Gnonto, both of whom could move on before the start of next season.

It is stated that United manager Erik ten Hag "plans to take him on the club’s summer tour to the USA", but it could be that he doesn't yet see him as a key part of his plans, therefore paving the way for a short-term exit.

Diallo could be such an exciting signing for Leeds, with his displays for Sunderland last term showing exactly what he is capable of, being hailed as "incredible" by Black Cats hero Luke O'Nien. He has the unpredictability, trickery and end product to immediately make the Whites a potent force in the Championship, and he would help fill the possible void left by Harrison and Gnonto.

Granted, it seems highly unlikely that the Ivorian will be at Elland Road for more than a season, but Leeds needs a quickfire return to the Premier League and the United starlet could be the man who helps inspire them back into the top flight.

Diallo already has three caps and one goal to his name for the Ivory Coast, despite his tender years, while six goals and four assists in just five appearances for United's Under-21s further highlight what a talent he is.
