Man Utd: Journalist drops Ndicka claim

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka, according to journalist Fabrice Hawkins.

The lowdown: Rising star

A product of the Auxerre academy, the Paris-born youngster joined the Europa League winners in 2018 and has rapidly developed a burgeoning reputation in the Bundesliga.

Since arriving in Germany, the 22-year-old has made 139 appearances for Frankfurt, directly contributing to an impressive 19 goals from a predominantly central defensive role.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/latest-man-utd-news-2/” title=”Latest Man Utd news!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Fast approaching the final year of his contract (Transfermarkt), it appears inevitable that the next step in a blossoming career is on the horizon…

The latest: United cited

Taking to Twitter, French journalist Hawkins confirmed interest from the Red Devils, AS Monaco and Tottenham in acquiring the services of Ndicka.

He stated: “Evan Ndicka is very courted. Tottenham and Man Utd are tracking the Frankfurt defender, recent Europa League winner. In Monaco, his name comes up insistently if Benoît Badiashile is transferred. Ndicka does not rule out playing UCL with Frankfurt next season.”

The verdict: Exciting prospect

Signing the 6 foot 3 20-times capped France youth international would be a hugely promising statement as Erik ten Hag begins his tenure at Old Trafford by attempting to freshen up the squad.

Described as the ‘complete package’ by German reporter Christopher Michel, this is a move that would make an abundance of sense, particularly as Eric Bailly has been linked with a departure in recent days.

So far this season, Ndicka has scored four times and provided another four assists in 44 appearances across all competitions and played 100 minutes in the European final success over Rangers to earn a 6.90 Sofascore rating for a monstrous performance containing a massive seven clearances and seven successful aerial duels.

Partnering a talent of this magnitude alongside either Harry Maguire or compatriot Raphael Varane would be a tantalising prospect that Ten Hag and John Murtough should be doing everything possible to make a reality.

Southampton: Source shares Bright Osayi-Samuel update

An ‘industry source’ has now shared a major Southampton transfer update involving Fenerbahce forward Bright Osayi-Samuel.

The Lowdown: Semmens eyeing moves…

The Saints and their transfer chief Martin Semmens have allegedly been planning some Premier League moves behind the scenes with the 2022 summer window now edging very close.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/southampton-newest-updates/” title=”Southampton newest updates!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

It has been reported that bolstering the attacking areas could become a real priority at St Mary’s, as links emerge to the likes of Manchester City striker Liam Delap.

This comes as Ralph Hasenhuttl seems unlikely to seal Chelsea loanee Armando Broja on a permanent basis but, according to reports, a forward isn’t the only position that Southampton could strengthen.

The Latest: Saints eye Osayi-Samuel swoop…

As per Football Insider’s ‘industry source’, Southampton – and by extension Semmens – are now ‘plotting’ a move to sign Osayi-Samuel this summer, weighing up a summer bid for the former QPR ace.

This comes as the club ‘highly regard’ and admire the versatile 24-year-old, having been blown away by his form in Turkey.

However, they face real competition for his signature, with both West Ham and Brentford also in contention.

The Verdict: Get it done?

Adept at playing both as a winger and right wing-back, Osayi-Samuel has really impressed in the Turkish Super League.

Hailed as ‘quality’ by Kevin Phillips, the former Championship star has averaged more successful take-ons per 90 in Fenerbache’s squad than anyone else (2.3), which shows why his former manager Mark Warburton said he is a ‘real handful’ who ‘terrifies defenders’.

He also ranks in their top six league performers by average match rating and has played the second-most minutes domestically, proving what a brilliant asset he is (WhoScored).

Depending on the price tag, Semmens must surely consider advancing with the move.

Tottenham Hotspur: Haysman to depart at the end of the season

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Khalon Haysman will reportedly leave the club at the end of the season, according to a report published by Football Insider.

The Lowdown: Scholarship prospect

The midfielder first joined the Lilywhites’ U18s squad back in 2020 after signing a two-year scholarship deal, and following a successful spell, was hoping that he would be able to agree a professional contract with the Premier League giants once the training programme ends next month.

However, it seems like Fabio Paratici and co are currently in the process of letting the club’s second-year scholars know whether they are being released or kept, and it doesn’t appear to be good news for the 18-year-old starlet.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/tottenham-newest-updates/” title=”Tottenham newest updates…” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

The Latest: Haysman set to depart

In a new article by Football Insider, a Spurs source has told the site that Haysman has been made aware that he will be one of the players departing north London when his contract ends on June 30th.

After Paratici’s decision, the talented prospect will now be on the hunt for a new club.

The Verdict: One for the future

The maestro would have gained plenty of experience at Spurs, not just from the scholarship, but from his time in the academy side, where he has made 17 appearances across the U18s Premier League and also the FA Youth Cup this season, finding the back of the net twice, as per Transfermarkt.

Even though this news will come as a huge blow to Haysman, he has the ability to switch roles from a defensive midfielder to playing on the left-hand side in the middle of the park.

This type of versatility is rare and a very attractive trait for someone still at such a young age, so there’s no doubt that his future potential suitor is out there, but for now, it looks like he will be starting the next chapter of his career away from N17.

Rangers to offer McGregor new deal

Paddy Kenny has been left blown away by some contract news that he has now heard from Glasgow Rangers sources.

The Lowdown: McGregor talks

As per Football Insider, the Teddy Bears are now in advanced talks with Allan McGregor over a new deal.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/rangers-news-4/” title=”Rangers news!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Sources from Ibrox have revealed that the club are now close to agreeing an extension with the goalkeeper, whose current contract is set to expire in the summer.

The Latest: Kenny reacts

Speaking to Football Insider, fellow former Premier League goalkeeper Kenny has now given his reaction to that news, with the 43-year-old blown away and claiming it’s ‘perfect for everyone’:

“Age is just a number.

“If he is still doing a job, give him a deal. That’s perfect for everyone. He is proving every week that he has still got it.

“He’s nearly the same age as me and I can’t get out of bed some mornings. I know he will be looked after a lot better but still, it’s incredible.

“He’s not making mistakes and he’s coming up trumps when Rangers need him to. He’s a big reason for them getting to the Europa League final in my opinion.

“He’s a legend at that club and he can probably stay as long as he wants to at this point.”

The Verdict: Deserved

If McGregor feels that he can carry on playing at the highest level at 40 years of age, then a new deal would be richly deserved.

He has managed to keep 16 clean sheets in total so far this season, including three in the UEFA Europa League, helping them miraculously reach the final against Frankfurt (Transfermarkt).

In their European journey, he has saved a penalty, made no errors leading to goals and averaged 2.8 saves per game (SofaScore), playing a big part as to why the Light Blues have managed to get so far.

Nonetheless, McGregor is showing no signs of slowing down just yet, and so the Gers need to tie him down at the risk of losing him on a free this summer.

Newcastle eye Everton striker Richarlison

The representatives of Richarlison are reportedly now talking to Newcastle United, among other clubs, over a potential move in the summer from Everton.

The Lowdown: Controversy

For all of his brilliance at times, Richarlison does also come with controversy, having recently thrown a lit flare during the Goodison Park faithful’s 1-0 win over Chelsea at the weekend, for which he is now being investigated.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/everton-news-5/” title=”Everton news!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

He has also been criticised for having problems with his attitude this season, and with the situation that the Merseyside club find themselves in the Premier League, it would not be a surprise if they decided to part ways this summer, banking a big sum to reinvest into other areas of the squad.

The Latest: Newcastle talks

Writing in his latest piece for Newcastle World, reliable journalist Liam Kennedy has reported that Richarlison’s representatives are already now speaking to the Magpies, as well as a number of other teams in the top flight, about a potential move for the Brazil international this summer.

However, the Toffees are set to ask for a fee of around £50m in order to let him go, but he is keen to leave regardless of whether they stay up or not.

The Verdict: Sell

Richarlison has hit a purple patch lately, with four goals and one assist in his last six games in the Premier League, including the winner against Chelsea last time out (Transfermarkt), but £50m is just too much to turn down for a player that also comes with some baggage, and has not always been as consistent this season.

Of course, they may have no choice if they go down, but even if they stay up, the Blues could then use that money to reinvest in other key areas of the squad, in order to kick on again under Frank Lampard next term.

Nonetheless, they still have Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who can be the focal point of their attack should Richarlison be sold, providing the England international can use the summer to finally get fully fit.

Crystal Palace have hopes over Nketiah

Eddie Nketiah’s future at Arsenal is uncertain, amidst his desire to play regular first team football.

What’s the word?

The 22-year-old has started the last three games against Southampton, Chelsea and Manchester United, with his two goals in that time coming against Tuchel’s side.

Though, his contract expires at the end of the season, with the young forward having rejected an offer from Arsenal amidst concerns over his game time.

If he is to become a free agent in the summer, it will not be for long, with the former England under-21 international attracting reported interest from the likes of Crystal Palace and Borussia Monchengladbach.

A boost for Vieira

Amidst Arsenal’s latest links with Gabriel Jesus and Tammy Abraham, the future of Nketiah, despite his run of starts, does not look promising.

Nketiah – who has been dubbed “sensational” by James Benge on Twitter – is said to be considering offers from both Palace and Monchengladbach.

The latest reports surrounding Nketiah appear to be positive for Palace, who would majorly benefit in this deal.

Until recent, the striker has not been afforded consistent minutes at Arsenal but has seized his opportunities with two goals in three starts.

Crystal Palace have not struggled as such in their quest to find the back of the net, ranking in ninth place for goals scored in the Premier League this season with 43 goals.

Though, they could have scored more – with both Christian Benteke and Odsonne Edouard missing a combined 14 big chances. Not to mention the fact that their best performing striker in terms of goals is Edouard in the league this season with just six – Palace’s top scorer meanwhile is a winger, while their second highest scorer is a central midfielder.

They still have room for improvement in the centre-forward position, and a hungry Nketiah with something to prove could well be a viable option for Vieira’s side.

The Palace boss would be thrilled with such a move.

Celtic man was finished under Rodgers, now he can be undroppable for Nancy

Celtic’s wait for a European away win is over.

On Thursday night, despite falling behind inside 11 minutes, the Hoops fought back to beat Feyenoord 3-1 at De Kuip; Yang Hyun-jun, Reo Hatate and Benjamin Nygren the scorers on a famous night in Rotterdam.

Before this, the Celts had failed to win any of their last 16 European fixtures on the road, dating back four years.

In fact, since reaching the UEFA Cup Final under Martin O’Neill in 2003, they have won only six times on the continent, excluding qualifiers, enjoying wins over Spartak Moskva, Anderlecht, Rosenborg, Lazio, Ferencváros and now Feyenoord across the last 22 seasons.

In terms of this season, the victory propels the Celts up to 21st in the gigantic Europa League table, a major boost to their hopes of reaching the knockout stages, with games against Roma, Bologna and then Utrecht still to come.

So, which Celtic star looked like an £100m player during this win at De Kuip?

Celtic's new manager latest

Since returning to the club on an interim basis, O’Neill could hardly have done much better.

He has won three Premiership matches out of three, ousted Rangers in the League Cup semi-finals and now claimed a memorable European victory in the Netherlands; the shellacking against Midtjylland in Herning the only blot on his copybook.

Nevertheless, for how much longer will he remain in interim charge?

Well, the 73 year old, alongside Shaun Maloney, will still be at the helm for Sunday’s clash with Hibernian at Easter Road, but could that be the final game of their tenure?

That’s because, according to widespread reports, the club are now in advanced talks with Columbus Crew manager Wilfried Nancy, with some optimistic that the Frenchman could be in place in time for next Wednesday’s clash with Dundee.

Considering they take on current Premiership leaders Hearts and then the side top of Serie A Roma thereafter, the board will be desperate to get Nancy in as quickly as possible.

Assuming the Frenchman was watching Thursday’s win over Feyenoord, potentially while enjoying some Thanksgiving food in Ohio, one player in particular surely will have caught his eye.

Celtic's best player vs Feyenoord

Towards the end of Brendan Rodgers’ tenure, Reo Hatate found himself no longer a guaranteed starter, only on the bench for the Europa League home defeat to Braga, before not getting on at all during a dismal goalless draw with Hibs in September.

Nevertheless, having been made a key figure under O’Neill, he was the star of the show in Rotterdam.

Hatate spectacularly set up Yang’s equaliser before, soon after, coolly slotting home the second, rolling the ball into an unguarded net from long-range after some trademark closing down by Daizen Maeda forced Timon Wellenreuther into a catastrophic error.

Overall, the midfield maestro completed 89% of his passes, took two shots, created one big chance and registered nine ball recoveries, underlining that he was everywhere.

After a 3-3 draw with Rangers at Ibrox last year, Brendan Rodgers asserted that Hatate “gives it away too much for my liking”, labelling him “sloppy’, a sign of his decline in form and importance.

Now though, he is playing at a comparable level to Enzo Fernandez, according to FBref, who note that the players are statistically and stylistically similar among those in their position across Europe.

That is a sign of Hatate’s recent revival, not least with Fernandez having not too long ago been signed by Chelsea for a fee of around £107m from Benfica.

Such a comparison is no unwarranted either, with Hatate arguably putting in his best performance of the season against Feyenoord, while operating in a Fernandez-esque, more advanced midfield berth

Meantime, the Japanese star is proving just what a goal threat he is in Europe too, scoring against both Midtjylland and Feyenoord, also registering an assist at De Kuip this week.

Celtic midfielder Reo Hatate.

Given how impressive Hatate has been since first arriving at Parkhead almost four years ago, it is frankly a surprise that a Premier League club has not come in and poached him.

Celtic supporters will hope that remains the case, with the 28-year-old likely to be a central, undroppable figure when Nancy does finally arrive.

Amorim upgrade: "Best coach in the PL" would now "love" to manage Man Utd

Manchester United’s situation on the pitch is one that needs a rapid change in the coming weeks, especially if boss Ruben Amorim is to save his job at Old Trafford.

The 40-year-old will mark a year in charge in just over a month’s time, but it remains to be seen if he will reach such a landmark given the Red Devils’ dismal displays in recent weeks.

His men have lost three of their first six Premier League matches in 2025/26, whilst also being knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League Two Grimsby Town.

Such results see the club occupy a place just above the relegation zone, just as they did last campaign, whilst already missing out on the opportunity to win a piece of silverware this season.

As a result, pressure has rapidly been building on Amorim’s shoulders, with numerous options already being lined up by the hierarchy should they decide to make a change of manager.

The latest on Man Utd’s shortlist of Amorim replacements

After winning the FA Cup and Community Shield within the last few months, Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has emerged as one of the options United could turn to if Amorim is sacked.

Such a move would be an excellent appointment, but it remains unclear at this stage whether the Austrian would be open to a switch to Old Trafford given his recent success at Selhurst Park.

However, he’s not the only manager currently in their sights, with Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola another option under consideration, according to TEAMtalk.

Their report claims that the Spaniard “would love” to take over at the Theatre of Dreams, with such a move reflecting his rapid rise in his managerial career.

It also states that the 43-year-old only has one year left on his contract at the Vitality, with the Cherries potentially having no choice but to allow him to depart in order to gain a compensation package.

Why United’s manager hunt could see an Amorim upgrade arrive

After joining last November, it’s safe to say no United fan would have expected the club’s form to take a further nose-dive after Amorim filled the hot-seat after Erik ten Hag’s dismissal.

The Portuguese boss arrived with huge expectations after winning two Liga Portugal titles during his spell in charge of Sporting CP – even beating Manchester City 4-1 in the Champions League prior to his move to England.

However, the 40-year-old has only achieved a 39% win rate in his 49 matches at the helm, with the defeat against Brentford last Saturday, the 21st of his tenure.

Such a result made it nine losses in the club’s last 15 league matches, with promoted sides such as Sunderland and Leeds United already ahead of them in the current standings.

A change is desperately needed, with a move for Iraola offering the Red Devils the fresh impetus they’ve desperately craved over the last couple of months.

AFC Bournemouth manager AndoniIraolalooks dejected after the match

Should he join the club, the first team would no doubt go back to a 4-2-3-1 system, something which Amorim has refused to do, but also offering the hierarchy an improvement on the man currently at the helm.

When comparing their respective stats in the Premier League, the difference is there for all to see, with the Spaniard a perfect option to right the wrongs of the last 12 months.

Iraola, who in the words of journalist James Horncastle – via John Brewin of the Libero podcast – is the “best coach in the Premier League”, has achieved a 40% win rate at the Vitality, a rate higher than that of Amorim, winning 38 of his 94 matches in charge – subsequently doing so on a shoestring budget.

He’s also achieved a better point per game rate to date, with his side also conceding fewer goals per 90 – subsequently offering the Red Devils the needed defensive quality they’ve lacked.

The former Rayo Vallecano boss led the Cherries to a top-half finish last time around, something which Amorim was unable to do with a vastly more expensive squad at his disposal.

There’s no denying that the 40-year-old is on borrowed time, with the hierarchy desperately needing to make a decision soon to avoid another embarrassing campaign.

Should he be given his matching orders, it’s clear that Iraola would be a phenomenal option, with the Spaniard’s desire to make the move another reason why he should be the man to transform the club’s fortunes.

Newcastle ready to launch offer to sign £40m+ star who just embarrassed Real Madrid

After making a slow start in front of goal this season, Newcastle United are reportedly ready to launch a 2026 move to sign a £40m+ striker who just humiliated Real Madrid.

Newcastle's goalscoring problem

It’s only natural that Newcastle are struggling in front of goal. They just lost one of the best strikers in the Premier League for a record deal in Alexander Isak. Replacing the Swede’s output was never going to be an easy task, but replacing his underrated creativity has so far proven to be even tougher.

Whilst Nick Woltemade has so far ticked the box for goals on his own – scoring three goals in his first four Premier League games – the likes of Anthony Gordon and Anthony Elanga have still struggled to contribute around him.

In total, Newcastle have scored six Premier League goals. Only Nottingham Forest and bottom side Wolverhampton Wanderers have managed less and there’s no denying that it’s a problem that Eddie Howe must solve.

That said, the manager is far from panicking, having told reporters earlier this season: “I’m excited by the team we can be. We have certainly got things to learn about each other and formulas to try and generate that we know will work.

“The biggest thing is the foundation is solid. The team’s playing at strength, but we’re just missing that X-factor that I think will come. With the players that we have, some are guaranteed goals and have done that historically.”

What could certainly help find that “X-factor” is the January transfer window. After such a chaotic summer, the Magpies are reportedly ready to go again in the hope of boosting their attacking options even further this winter.

Newcastle readying Sorloth offer

According to reports in Spain, Newcastle are now readying an offer to sign Alexander Sorloth from Real Madrid in a deal worth €50m (£44m). The Atletico Madrid forward has started just three La Liga games so far this season and may be forced to look elsewhere for consistent game time in the near future.

Newcastle should be well aware of the 29-year-old’s situation after sending scouts to watch him in action against Real Madrid as he scored the equalising goal in a 5-2 thrashing of Atletico’s rivals.

Whether Diego Simeone and the Atletico sanction Sortloth’s exit in 2026 is the big question.

The iconic manager was full of praise for the forward when he scored the fastest hat-trick in La Liga history against Real Sociedad last season, saying: “I was very happy with the team’s first half in general.

“Alex, of course, is a whole different matter. He had a fantastic night, especially those first 45 minutes, where he decisively finished every ball that came his way.”

PIF have overpaid for "mega-money" Newcastle signing & it's not Woltemade

One of Newcastle’s key signings over the summer may well have an “inflated valuation” & it’s not Nick Woltemade.

ByJoe Nuttall Oct 9, 2025

If there is a chance for Newcastle, then turning towards Sorloth wouldn’t be a bad idea. He’s a proven striker at the top level these days and has unfinished business in the Premier League after previous struggles at Crystal Palace.

49ers lining up summer swoop to sign "resilient" relegated star for Leeds

Yet to complete their first move of the summer, Leeds United and the 49ers are now reportedly lining up a deal to sign a relegated Premier League defender for Daniel Farke.

Leeds set to commence summer business

Whilst those at Elland Road are yet to welcome their first summer arrival, it’s not been for the want of trying. Several fresh names have been linked with a move to the Yorkshire club in recent weeks, but it remains to be seen just who arrives. Among those names is Newcastle United goalkeeper Nick Pope, who would be an instant upgrade on Illan Meslier this summer.

The veteran shot-stopper is an England international and the type of arrival that Farke desperately needs if he is to navigate survival at the first time of asking. Pope is not the only one on Leeds’ reported radar, however.

Gustavo Hamer has also found himself in the headlines as of late. The Sheffield United star suffered playoff heartbreak courtesy of Sunderland at the end of the season, but could yet step into the Premier League without the Blades.

Leeds chairman Paraag Marathe had his say on the club’s potential transfer activity this summer when speaking to reporters last month, saying: “I’m not really ready to go into that, but yes, your speculation is probably right.

“It’s going to be a mix of seeing if there are inbounds along with outbounds. And that’s probably, that’s probably accurate, but really not ready to go into more detail than that. But we are looking at maximizing what we can do, and so that involves the whole bag, ins and outs.”

Of course, one market that the Whites could take full advantage of is relegated stars who will be desperate to regain their Premier League place, and that could yet include one impressive defender.

Leeds lining up Dara O'Shea move

According to The Sun, Leeds and the 49ers are now lining up a summer swoop to sign Dara O’Shea from Ipswich Town. The relegated Tractor Boys have already lost Liam Delap, but could still be picked apart even further.

Despite his side’s relegation, O’Shea still impressed at Portman Road and may have done enough to keep hold of his place in the top flight. If that does prove to be the case courtesy of Leeds, then Farke would instantly have impressive defensive depth to choose from in Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk and the Ipswich star.

Leeds looking to sign "unbelievable" £15m star who'd be Bogle 2.0

Leeds United could land a star who could follow in the footsteps of Jayden Bogle at Elland Road.

1 ByEthan Lamb Jun 6, 2025

Kieran McKenna will be desperate to keep hold of the 26-year-old, however, having told reporters earlier in the season: “His character and his nature is always going to be beneficial in times of struggle and challenge because he’s a resilient person, he’s a fighter and he’s got character.

“I haven’t had many conversations with him about his experiences (of relegation) with Burnley and West Brom. But I’m sure those experiences have really helped him with us.”

With former club Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers also reportedly interested in a move to sign O’Shea, Leeds should make their move as soon as possible and get their summer business underway.
